Location: Salemburg, North Carolina This position will assist the Cook Supervisor II and/or Food Service Supervisor IV position and provide support of the facility’s School Nutrition Program and will ensure compliance with the Department’s Federal School Nutrition Program regulations by: Providing nutritionally adequate meals meeting the federal School Nutrition Program meal patterns and dietary standards, while adhering to planned menus; Follow operational procedures for efficient and effective food production and service; Assist supervisor with maintaining required records (production records, HACCP binders), reports (SFA-4 School Record of Daily Meal Participation) and inventories in compliance with federal and state regulations; Assist supervisor with food and supplies requisition as needed, check the cost and quality of items received, and insures proper storage; Assist supervisor with ensuring compliance with School Nutrition Local Wellness Program as well as being a committee member of the School Nutrition Local Wellness Program; Properly uses and cares for all equipment; Assist supervisor with maintaining integrity and accountability of the facility School Nutrition Program through compliance with all federal and state regulations and Department School Nutrition policies; Complying with policies and procedures of the Department; Follow Federal and State safety and sanitation procedures; Provide positive, professional and friendly customer service with facility staff; use a caring approach when interacting with juveniles; Maintain an approved Food Safety Certification as well as attend any other meetings and/or training as required by federal and state regulations; Perform all duties and responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner as designated by the Detention Center Cook Supervisor II and/or Youth Development Center Food Service Supervisor IV and/or immediate supervisor, facility Director, the School Nutrition Program Administrator and Administrative Officer I. NOTE: ALL personnel working at a North Carolina Youth Challenge facility must submit to a fingerprint based, National level criminal background screening and Sex Offender screening upon hire and every five years thereafter. ALL personnel must complete NGYCP specific training requirements before interacting with cadets or performing position specific training/duties. Personnel will complete daily sign in/out requirements to support payroll and vendor invoicing, separating staff costs from overhead costs. Selected candidates will be required to complete the following training provided by TCA: Basic and Cadre Courses, CPR (recertify every two years), Non-Violent Interaction training, Gang Awareness training and Hands-off Policy training. Candidates are also required to obtain a CDL license w/passenger endorsement (required to drive a bus to transport cadets). Per 5 CFR 731, upon appointment, applicants must be able to obtain a favorable suitability and fitness determination from a Tier 1 background investigation conducted by the Office of Personnel Management. Failure to obtain favorable determination may result in termination of employment. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range : $31,200.00 - $48,810.00 DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.    The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences, including Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants.
