Console Shift Supervisor, FCC   PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are a growing organization seeking a talented Console Shift Supervisor, FCC to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Torrance Refining Company in Torrance, CA. JOB SUMMARY  The Console Shift Supervisor represents the Operations Department on a 24/7 basis. The CSS operates their assigned console, leads and directs the unit operators to drive the refinery operation and to achieve production targets in a safe, reliable and environmentally responsible manner. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Demonstrates leadership in Personal and Process Safety Reviews and executes operating instructions, night orders and standing orders with unit operators and ensures required tasks are completed on-shift Develops and monitor operator performance and behavior Recognizes and reinforces positive performance and behavior. If needed, provide coaching and address performance and behavior issues as defined by Company Rules of Conduct. Correct unsafe behavior IMMEDIATELY Promotes teamwork and encourage responsible decision-making by all team members Manages and resolves conflicts by active listening and escalate field concerns to Refinery and Unit Superintendent as appropriate Report out all injuries, safety violations, environmental incidents and near misses to the Refinery and Unit Superintendent and appropriate departments / agencies as required undefined PROCESS UNIT OPTIMIZATION & RELIABILITY RESPONSIBILITIES: Takes direction from the Refinery and Unit Superintendent to optimize the unit operation and achieve production targets Controls unit conditions (pressures, temperatures, flows and product qualities) via the Honeywell DCS system and directing unit operator field moves to ensure all parameters are within established operating envelops Accountable for the following performance results, among others: Operation of the facility within safe operating limits Ensuring all products are made within quality specifications Leading unit operators in execution of operating procedures and simulation drills Detection and prompt reporting of process unit issues / equipment malfunctions Safely operating the unit through unplanned, abnormal or non-routine operations Collaborates with other Console Supervisors and Outside Supervisors to manage impacts on upstream and downstream unit equipment and operation Identifies barriers to achieving unit production plan and communicate to Refinery and Unit Superintendent Troubleshoots and takes proactive steps to manage unit / equipment issues and eliminate production constraints, solicit support from Technical & Reliability Departments as required Tracks and addresses disabled / inhibited alarms, operating envelope and structured round deviations and communicate findings to Refinery and Unit Superintendent Completes / maintains all compliance documentation (Management of Change, Control of Defeat, Technical Reviews, Operating Procedures etc.) Completes all shift handover documents and provides thorough shift handover to incoming Console Supervisor Supports planning and / or field execution of Major Maintenance events or Turnaround Performs / Assists with incident or near miss investigations JOB QUALIFICATIONS Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: High school diploma / GED Eligible for full time employment in California 5+ years in Operations in a Refining or Petrochemical Manufacturing Facility (Operator level 3 equivalent or higher) Prior to operating a console must pass all required qualification criteria (computer based testing, actual demonstrations and review board round table) Familiarity with industry personal safety, process safety, environment regulations, work practices, and compliance strategies Ability to sit for extended periods while continuously monitoring unit operation Ability to understand and manage risk aligned with site expectations Ability to maintain composure and calm demeanor under abnormal, non-routine conditions Knowledge / Understanding of the following: Distillation, fractionation, separation, and other contacting equipment Air cooled and shell and tube heat exchangers Piping and valves General purpose turbine and motorized equipment Special purpose critical equipment (air blower, large motors, gas compressors, and turbines) Basic refinery operation, economics and equipment reliability Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Field or Unit Operator experience in associated unit Prior leadership / supervisory experience  Honeywell DCS system or similar DCS control General instrumentation (transmitters, flow meters etc.) Equipment health monitoring and control systems Operating and optimizing through a console interface with the equipment Unit start up and shutdown Response to upsets and emergencies Troubleshooting of complex processes (i.e. distillation, compressors, control systems) Microsoft Word and Excel (Intermediate level) This description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. The salary range for this position is $106,787.51- $189,503.19.  The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law.  Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation.  Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases.  In addition to salary, PBF
