We're hiring a Desktop Engineer to join our VDI Engineering team. This role spans two areas — Workspace (VDI), Desktop Engineering and Mobile Device Management (MDM) and you'll shift priorities across both platforms as business needs require. Day to day, you'll own both sides of the platform: VDI infrastructure — image builds, directory configuration, client connectivity, and end-user troubleshooting — and desktop engineering for Windows and macOS device management, including enrollment, configuration, patching, and compliance checks. This is a hands-on learning role: you'll work closely with senior engineers who will mentor you through incidents, deeper AWS service work, and the automation tooling behind the platform, and grow over time into more in VDI, MDM and automation side of the role. We're looking for someone with VDI experience, MDM experience, and Windows/macOS support experience, along with a mindset to learn new technologies quickly and come up to speed fast. Duties & Responsibilities • Support day-to-day VDI operations: image builds, bundle management, directory configuration, client connectivity, and user-facing troubleshooting. • Assist with Active Directory / SSO configuration and troubleshooting for VDI environments. • Triage and resolve desktop-level issues for end users, escalating more complex infrastructure problems to senior engineers. • Manage and support Windows and macOS devices via MDM platforms, including enrollment, configuration profiles, patching, and compliance checks. • Partner with the team on the Intune rollout — contributing to strategy, architecture, and documentation for the MDM platform. • Implement and maintain MDM solutions for BYOD devices across Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. • Work with the team on migration of legacy Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to Intune/Entra-based configuration and compliance policies, including translating GPO logic 1:1 where needed and documenting gaps. • Help maintain platform documentation and runbooks for common desktop, connectivity, and account issues. • Support the Datadog monitoring setup for the VDI stack — assisting with dashboards, alerts, and basic metrics/log configuration, and shadowing senior engineers on Terraform/Ansible platform maintenance. Education and/or Experience • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline (or equivalent work experience) required. • 2+ years of experience in desktop support, end-user computing, or IT operations. • 2+ years of experience working with Amazon Workspaces or another VDI platform (Citrix, Horizon, etc.) is a strong plus. • 2+ years of experience working with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, KMS, CloudWatch etc. • Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (e.g., Intune, Jamf, Workspace ONE), including device enrollment, compliance policy configuration, and Group Policy migration. • Exposure to disaster recovery (DR) concepts and multi-region failover for critical workloads. • Familiarity with AWS Secrets Manager for credential and configuration management. • Strong troubleshooting mindset and genuine interest in learning cloud infrastructure (AWS) over time. • Some exposure to automation or scripting tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible) for streamlining repetitive tasks is a plus. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production environment and following established runbooks and procedures. • Good written and verbal communication skills for working with both end users and engineering peers. • A collaborative attitude and openness to feedback and mentorship from senior engineers. Ways to Stand Out • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with AWS Workspaces specifically (image builds, bundles, directory services, client connectivity issues). • Automation scripting experience (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for repetitive operational tasks. • Exposure to Terraform and/or Ansible for infrastructure-as-code. • Familiarity with VPC networking concepts (subnets, route tables, NAT Gateway, security groups). • Experience with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD pipelines. • Basic awareness of security frameworks and controls (CIS benchmarks, NIST), or interest in cloud cost optimization. • St
