Automation Engineer

Job Title Automation Engineer Position Overview Shaw Industries is searching for Process Controls Engineer to support and assist in the development and oversight of locally deployed process control solutions as part of broader process engineering responsibilities. It creates differentiated customer experiences through its expansive portfolio of brands: Anderson Tuftex, COREtec, Shaw Floors, Patcraft, Philadelphia Commercial, Shaw Contract, Shaw Sports Turf, Shawgrass, Southwest Greens, Watershed Geo and more.     Headquartered in Dalton, Georgia, Shaw is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. with more than $6 billion in annual sales and 18,000 associates worldwide.   Responsibilities:   Support process control projects, with focus on Ignition SCADA, PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), and HMI integration.  Design and implement capital and continuous improvement projects, including electrical power and mechanical systems.  Serve as the bridge between manufacturing operations and process control technologies, leveraging data to identify process improvements.  Own and maintain documentation: drawings, source code, procedures, spare parts, and lifecycle management of control systems.  Partner with Shaw Automation Engineers and CIM teams to expand local capability and ensure compliance with corporate standards.  Mentor plant personnel and provide engineering support to maintenance and operations teams.  Actively contribute to energy-saving initiatives and plant utility improvements.  Serve as a resource to plant safety, reliability, and maintenance leaders.  Competencies:   Build Trusting Relationships  Demonstrate Good Judgment  Innovate and Drive Results  Collaborate & Influence  Solve Problems and Adapt to Change  Manage Work and Prioritize  Deliver Excellent Internal Customer Support  Required Qualifications:   1+ year experience with design, installation, and troubleshooting of:  PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)  HMI/SCADA (preferably Ignition)  PC hardware/software in industrial environments  OR High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years hands-on controls/automation experience  Preferred:   CMMS, Six Sigma, or lean manufacturing exposure  Strong understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance  Prior manufacturing experience and project leadership  Experience supporting reliability-centered improvement initiatives  Strong verbal and written communication skills  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field  This role will be filled as an Automation Engineer or Automation Technician based on education level and experience. #ShawIND #LI-AB1 Work Shift 8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM Shaw Industries is an equal opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
