Description of Work This position serves as one of two assistant directors for Roanoke Island Festival Park and is responsible for oversight of all facilities, including physical buildings, grounds and the Elizabeth II, a working replica of a 16th century merchant vessel. This position also oversees the rental of the property for events. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: · Manage site facilities and grounds, including the Elizabeth II to ensure adequate staffing to support the maintenance and upkeep of site facilities and grounds, and provide supervision to the maintenance/construction supervisor and the Captain of the Elizabeth II and identify and justify necessary capital improvement projects and serve as the liaison for the park with DNCR and the state capital projects team. · Oversee Event Rentals to include supervision of the Program Manager and overseeing development of a plan to maximize event rental income at the site and working with nonprofit support organizations or other vendors to manage alcohol sales at public events. · Support the development and management of budget to support operations and comply with state purchasing requirements including working with the Executive Director and Assistant Director to develop a budget that accurately reflects park income (including ticket sales and donations) and expenses, including accounting for future maintenance and equipment needs. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND four (4) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades including one (1) year of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Requirements May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F. Section/Unit Description Roanoke Island Festival Park is a 27-acre site.  First opening in 1983 with the “Elizabeth II” , a 16th century replica sailing vessel, a visitor/ticket sales center, offices, and a 50-seat auditorium.  In 1998 an expansion project was completed, adding an 8,500 sq.ft. Adventure Museum; a 240-seat film/small performance indoor theatre; 3,0000-sq.ft. meeting room; an outdoor performance pavilion with lawn seating for 3,500; a museum store; administrative offices; maintenance facilities; waterside boardwalks; and a public Kayak Launch.
