Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing

ANNOUNCMENT OF POSITION VACANCY ABOUT THIS POSITION Summary: Colorado Mesa University is seeking two qualified applicants for Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing positions. The standard teaching load is 12 course credit hours per semester or 24 credits over an academic year. This position seeks candidates with at least two years of medical-surgical and/or critical care nursing expertise. Experience in critical care settings, such as ICU, Emergency Department, or Telemetry, is highly preferred. This position carries ongoing responsibility for curriculum development, planning, teaching, guiding, monitoring, and evaluating student learning in the classroom and clinical practice settings to support continuous improvement of courses and clinical experiences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Willi ngness   to teach   across nursing programs   based on departmental needs .   Teaching theor y, laboratory, and /or   clinical   components   in nursing education program s .   Teaching   and evaluating assigned courses.    Supervising student performance of clinical skills in the lab and/or clinical setting s ( clinical faculty -to- student ratio is not more than 1:10 ) .   Promot ing   positive and productive relationships with service are a   hospitals, clinics, and agencies .   Participat ing   in   program, department, and university   assessment   and accreditation   activities.     Participat ing   in academic advising and guidance of students   Attend ing   p rogram and   d epartment faculty meetings.    Providing students   with   a   detailed course   syllabus   in writing,   following CMU   Nursing guidelines   and timelines .   Establishing, posting, and keeping a minimum of five office hours weekly over four days during each term of the academic year.    Establishing   necessary   procedures to   ensure   that adequate and   accurate   records of student performance are   maintained .   Developing and   maintaining :   An active scholarship   portfolio   ( for t enure-track Assistant Professor), or   Ongoing professional productivity and clinical   expertise   (Assistant Clinical Professor)   Provid ing   service to the   program, department,   university ,   and external community.    Participat ing   in program, department, and university events including commencement.   Maintaining   t imely   and satisfactory performance of responsibilities specified in the faculty member’s employment agreement and CMU Professional Employee Handbook.    ​ Salary: $60,000-$70,000 (master’s prepared); $70,000-$80,000 (doctoral prepared) Commensurate with education and experience. EDUCATION   AND   EXPERIENCE:     Required   Qualifications   E ligible for or hold ing   a current license in   good standing   to practice as a Registered Nurse in Colorado .     Minimum of   two years of   full-time   professional clinical   nursing   experience , with preference given to candidates with experience in critical care settings (ICU, ED, Telemetry)     Graduate degree in   n ursing   from a   national accredited school of nursing.    Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to :   Adult learning principles   Teaching   methodology   C urriculum development and evaluation   O r a written plan for obtaining such knowledge   beginning no later than the first year of teaching.     LANGUAGE SKILLS   Ability to read, analyze, and interpret   professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from   students, colleagues, and community partners.    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS   Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages,   ratios   and proportions to practic e   situations.   REASONING ABILITY   Ability to define problems, collect   and analyze   data,   establish   facts, and draw valid conclusions.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
