The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. Description of Work Are you a technology-driven problem solver who enjoys transforming business needs into innovative technology solutions> The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is seeking two Application Systems Analyst to join our team and play a key role in supporting, enhancing, and optimizing enterprise applications. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Key Responsibilities Applications and Systems Development Serve as a technical resource for assigned application and systems-development initiatives Configure, maintain, and support application services, including web and database servers Diagnose and resolve application and system failures Provide user support for internally developed enterprise applications Ensure compliance with applicable data-security requirements for internally developed applications and systems, as well as data associated with externally provided vendor applications and stored within the SHP enterprise environment Participate in system testing, validation, deployment, and post-implementation support Evaluate technical solutions and recommend improvements to system functionality, scalability, and performance Database Support Provide Microsoft SQL Server database support, including performance tuning and complex troubleshooting Develop and execute advanced queries, scripts, and reports supporting operational, analytical, and mapping requirements Please note: Job postings close at 11:59:59 p.m. the night before the listed Posting End Date above. Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution AND two years of experience in business application consulting or development; or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution AND three years of experience in application consulting or development; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
