Labcorp   is seeking a Anatomic Pathology Lab Manager to join our team in Houston, TX Work Schedule:   Monday-Friday 1st shift Job Responsibilities   Direct and oversee the daily operations of the department, ensuring excellence across both technical and non-technical functions while maintaining productivity, quality, safety, and service standards. Provide strategic leadership to a team of supervisors and laboratory professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and professional development. Lead, coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and emerging leaders, building organizational capability and succession plans to support future growth. Effectively manage departmental staffing models, workforce planning, scheduling, and labor utilization to ensure appropriate coverage, operational efficiency, and responsible management of overtime. Drive a high-performance culture through employee engagement, performance management, recognition, career development, and ongoing coaching at all levels of the organization. Leverage laboratory technologies, automation platforms, digital workflows, data analytics, and artificial intelligence tools to improve operational efficiency, quality, turnaround time, and decision-making. Identify and implement innovative technology solutions that enhance laboratory operations, workforce effectiveness, scalability, and the client experience. Utilize operational data, dashboards, and AI-enabled insights to monitor performance trends, identify opportunities, and drive continuous process improvement initiatives. Ensure the diagnostic laboratory delivers market-leading service levels by meeting client expectations and achieving established turnaround time (TAT), quality, and operational metrics. Partner with Medical Directors, Technical Directors, Quality Assurance, Laboratory Directors, and Corporate Operations to resolve client inquiries, operational challenges, and service-related issues in a timely manner. Ensure laboratory compliance with all corporate, federal, state, and accrediting agency requirements, including CAP, CLIA, ISO, and applicable state regulations, while promoting a culture of quality and patient safety. Lead and support the development, validation, implementation, and optimization of laboratory procedures, equipment, technologies, and testing methodologies. Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, engagement, development, retention, and corrective action when necessary. Promote effective communication and collaboration across laboratory operations, executive leadership, medical staff, clients, sales, and corporate partners. Facilitate departmental meetings and leadership forums that drive alignment, transparency, employee engagement, and organizational objectives. Investigate operational deviations, quality events, and process failures to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions. Maintain expert-level knowledge of laboratory operations, testing methodologies, regulatory requirements, emerging technologies, and industry best practices. Champion a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and digital transformation by evaluating and adopting new technologies, automation solutions, and AI-powered tools that support operational excellence. Minimum Qualifications   Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology   5  years   of experience in anatomic pathology or surgical pathology operations 3 years or more of supervisory or management experience in a clinical lab setting Preferred Qualification:   Current or prior   Labcorp   experience   ASCP certification   Additional Job Standards   Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations   Experience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment   Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures   Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees   Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office   Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision   Strong communication skills; both written and verbal   High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills    Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment   Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position   Able to pass a standardized color blindness test   Benefits:  Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a
