Job Details:
Job Description: Drive the Automated Circulatory Engine of Intel Foundry
At Intel Foundry Technology & Manufacturing, we design, build, and scale the physical and digital infrastructure that powers the future of computing. Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS) serve as the circulatory system of Intel’s high-volume manufacturing facilities, enabling continuous 24x7 wafer transport and reticle delivery across our Gordon Moore Park at Ronler Acres and Aloha campuses.
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Systems Software Development Engineer to take ownership of real-time cleanroom automation architectures, high-availability control software, and data-driven factory throughput. Operating at the convergence of distributed software systems, factory physics, and advanced cleanroom operations, you will directly influence wafer cycle times, tool availability, and operational yield for next-generation process nodes.
What You Will Do
AMHS Equipment Ownership: Serve as the technical expert responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of the AMHS within the manufacturing environment. Maintain system uptime targets based on organizational goals, through proactive monitoring, preventive maintenance execution, and rapid response to Major Impacts (MI), while simultaneously driving innovation through the evaluation and implementation of new technologies. Flexibility to participate in an operational on-call rotation to support 24x7 manufacturing escalations.
Architect & Deliver Factory Automation Software Integration: Design, integrate, and deploy robust end-to-end software solutions for 300mm wafer transport, reticle management, and automated stocker systems across high-volume cleanroom environments
Optimize Distributed Control Systems: Debug, tune, and sustain multi-tier automation platforms—spanning low-level firmware, OS configurations, database interfaces, and real-time scheduling algorithms—to maximize tool availability and eliminate dispatch bottlenecks.
Lead New Product Introductions (NPI): Partner cross-functionally with IT Platforms, Networks, Middleware, and Module Equipment Engineering to qualify and integrate new automation capabilities with zero operational disruption to high-volume manufacturing line balance.
Own Complex Escalations & Root Cause Analysis: Function as the module technical authority for system excursions; drive structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement robust permanent corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Champion Fab Data Intelligence: Develop performant SQL queries, Python automation routines, and PowerBI dashboards to monitor fleet health, analyze telemetry logs, and proactively eliminate systemic failures before they manifest as tool downtime.
Continuous Improvement: Strive to improve corrective and preventive maintenance overload from maintenance by continually looking for opportunities to improve maintenance through innovative ideas and enhancements. All improvements need to be driven through the DPO and DPG to ensure all sites benefit through these CIPs.
Project Management: Complete equipment qualification in accordance with the appropriate qual specifications, contribute to global knowledge revisions based on ongoing learning and lessons learned during system qualifications. Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment (including walking long fab distances and working at heights around automated track superstructures).
Execute Global Standards: Collaborate with Intel’s worldwide AMHS engineering network to maintain alignment with Copy Exactly! (CE!) protocols and industry SEMI standards.
Why Join Intel Foundry?
Direct Impact at Global Scale: Your code directly governs real-time wafer movement and operational KPIs across one of the most sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing ecosystems on earth.
World-Class Automation Ecosystem: Direct, hands-on access to multi-million-dollar automated storage, overhead transport (OHT), and robotics infrastructure engineered alongside premier global equipment partners.
Accelerated Technical Leadership: Direct mentorship and collaboration with Intel Fellows and Senior Principal Engineers on an accelerated path toward technical distinction.
