Your goals, ideas and perspective can help shape our future – we look forward to hearing them!  Job Title: Accounting Associate I  Department: Finance & Accounting   Job Title Reporting to: Accounting Manager   Primary Purpose & Value of the Department & Position    Finance Shared Services maintains key transactional processes for the company while keeping a customer-centric attitude. The Accounting Associate may work in Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable. The Accounting Associate on the Accounts Payable side enters data into the paperless system; processes payments for vendors and works closely with the Purchasing department to resolve outstanding invoices. On the Accounts Receivable side, the Accounting Associate applies payment to invoices appropriately ensuring cash flow is maximized and works closely with Credit Manager. The position may also include reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate financial data, supporting compliance, and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting operations.  Primary Duties & Responsibilities    Review billings/invoice distributions daily, apply cash receipts daily from customers, and work with Credit Manager to work through collection items  Process invoices in SAP daily and work closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure invoices are paid timely  Communicate with internal and external customers to provide requested data  Issue debit/credit memos, miscellaneous billings, scrap reconciliations, recovering billing, or process payments for vendors  Assist with process improvement initiatives for cash application and payments  Complete month end entries by deadlines  Complete reconciliations in accordance with company policy  Prepare audit work papers as assigned  Key Relationships    Critical to the success of this role is the ability to deliver outcomes through productive relationships with others include:  Accounting Manager  Credit Managers  Internal and external customers  Internal and external auditors  Bank contacts  Education & Experience Qualifications      Minimum:    Associates degree or two years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable  Basic general accounting knowledge (i.e. ability to execute debit and credit transactions)  Preferred:    BA/BS Degree in Accounting   Construction and Manufacturing experience  Experience with ERP system, preferable SAP  Experience with paperless software  Proficient in Microsoft Excel  Skills & Competencies    Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel  Strong attention to detail   Problem solving and decision making.  Exemplary customer service  A positive attitude and self-driven  Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.  Professional written and oral communication skills  Professional demeanor  Additional Information   The preceding job responsibilities and tasks were designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates in this job.
